2010 .pdf

Children less than 3
years old should start in the Parent Child Classes. All classes are 30 minutes long. Classes with
less than 4 children signed up will be cancelled and the parents called to
reschedule.
Parents ask if baby swimming classes make a
difference in the long run. After 40 yrs of teaching swimming and 6 years of teaching baby swimming at our
facility in Center Valley, I know that taking one or two sessions will not
make a difference in baby's ability to swim when they are 5years old. Our goal
in the first sessions of baby swimming is to teach the parents water safety as it applies to
young children. If parents continue with baby swim lessons, so that the baby
actually learns how to swim underwater, back float, return to the side,
rollover etc. then the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES!! Baby swimming classes
do make a difference in the 5 year olds ability to swim and be comfortable in
the water. Penny Pantano
We require double diapering for those children
not reliably toilet trained. Double diapering means a disposable diaper with
a non-disposable swim diaper or rubber pants over the disposable one. According to the CDC no swim diaper holds in fecal
material beyond 5 minutes. By double diapering we hope to get the full 5
minutes. Please compassionately understand that
many parents drive long distances and go through enormous effort to get to our
classes. We do not want to disappoint anyone for a problem that can be
prevented. Non-disposable swim diapers can be purchased in our pro-shop.
Children who are
under 3yrs. old may take semiprivate or private lessons. Parents may attend
in the water with their children in a private lesson or a semiprivate lesson
when both children are from the same family.
Parents of
children approximately 3 or more years of age may choose to attend the
PARENT/OLDER CHILD class with their children.
