Birthday Parties

Frequently Asked Questions about Swim-in Zone’s Birthday Parties

What is your swim diaper policy? Does my potty trained 2-year-old need to wear a swim diaper?
Double Swim Diaper Policy
Poop happens! And unfortunately, sometimes it happens in swimming pools, and it can close the pool. We do not want anything to prevent you from having a great time at your birthday party. Prevention is BETTER for all of us. Please click on the link above for our policy.

What equipment does my child need? Do swimmers need goggles?
Your child will need a swim suit, a towel and some flip flops, crocs or shoes for walking around in the party room. Goggles are not necessary for birthday parties, but some of the children like to use them. We sell goggles in all sizes and for all face shapes.

Is there a changing area?
Yes. There are many changing areas. We have family changing rooms with a group shower area. There are also men’s and ladies’ locker rooms with showers and lockers. Please bring your own lock if you would like to secure your items while you are here. Do not leave valuables visible in your car.

Our pool

    • 62,000 gallon capacity
    • 25 yds. – the same length as a college pool
    • 70.5 lengths of our pool = one mile
    • 3 lanes
    • 3 ½ ft deep to 5 ft. deep. The majority of the pool is 4 ft. deep.
    • No diving is permitted.
    • Children more than 52” tall can comfortably stand in most parts of our pool. We require some adults to go into the pool for children less than 52”.
    • 2 Disinfection systems – chlorine and UV light. Chlorine level is automatically kept where the PA regulatory agency recommends.

Is there a lifeguard?
Yes, there is a dedicated lifeguard at all times.

Are adults required to go into the water? Do I have to pay for adults entering the water with the children?
During birthday parties and open swim time, adults are required to be in the water if the children are not 52” tall or able to pass the swim test. Adults swim for no extra charge for a Party Plus, Exclusive and Mini-party, but must buy a punch for a punch card party. Because the lifeguard must continuously scan the entire pool, he/she cannot always see everything at the moment it happens. A nearby responsible adult can pick up the child as soon as he/she falls off the steps or noodle, or walks out a little too far, thereby avoiding any scary situations. We require 1 adult to each child 4 and under, and 1 adult to every six children 5 and up who are less than 52”. If the required ratio of adults to children < 52” tall is not met, then every child must wear a lifejacket regardless of swimming ability, and no children will be permitted in the 4 ½ to 5 ft. area.

The Party Mom usually is not aware of the swimming level of each invited child. Please communicate our in-water policy to all guests.

What is the swim test?
Starting on the deck in the 5 ft. area, swimmers jump into the water and swim 15 ft. Then they tread water for 1 minute and swim back to their starting place. Swimmers who cannot tread water for the whole minute will not be permitted beyond the corner.

What if my child has a fear of water?
Plan to go into the pool with your child and let him/her play on the steps. Do not make him/her wear a lifejacket if he/she is not comfortable; your assistance in the water will be more beneficial. Do not force him/her or ask him/her to do what the other children are doing. Remember, swimming is a skill that takes time. Please ask our staff for information about our year-round swimming lessons.

Can my child wear floaties, a vest, a float suit or a plastic tube?

No. Only U.S. Coast Guard approved flotation devices are acceptable, and we have them available to use. If your child will not wear a U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejacket, you must hold him/her or play with him/her on the steps. Even if a child < 4years old is wearing the U.S. Coast Guard approved lifejacket, an adult must still accompany him/her into the pool.

What toys or equipment are available for the children to use?

We provide USCG approved lifejackets, noodles and sinking toys. We do not allow any inflatable toys in the pool during birthday parties.  Depending on the time of your party, we may have a small group of swimming lessons going on.  They will have equipment reserved specially for their use.  The lifeguard on duty will be able to help you determine which toys are for the birthday parties.

How soon must I reserve a time for my child’s birthday party?
You can reserve a spot as far in advance as you would like. Time slots, especially in the winter months, fill up very quickly, so call for reservation as soon as possible.

What are the food options?
You must bring your own birthday cake (don’t forget candles and matches), drinks, and any other food items.

We have a partnership with local restaurants who will deliver to Swim-in Zone: Casa Mia (pizza) and Cosi (sandwiches, soup, and salad). A Swim-in Zone staff member will order cheese pizzas from Casa Mia to be delivered when your guests leave the pool.  If small children are coming, consider getting the pizza cut into 16 or 12 slices rather than 8. There is a $4 charge for delivery from Cosi in the Promenade Shops, but please call Cosi yourself to order.

Do we need to bring our own paper products?
Yes. Please bring tablecloths, plates, cups, plasticware and napkins.

Are there tables and chairs?
Yes. There is an adequate supply of tables and chairs. We set up tables and chairs for the number of children you are expecting, as well as an additional table that you can use for food or gifts. We also have a full sized refrigerator and freezer for your use.

What discounts do you have?
You may find some discount coupons in the KidStuff Book and Entertainment Book for birthday parties.
Occasionally we have discount offers online or emailed to our clients.

What if I do not have 15 children coming? What if I do not want the pizzas with the exclusive party? Can I reduce the price?
No. The party packages are for up to the specified amount of children with the extras included. We do not prorate if you have less children, prefer to use your own invitations, or bring your own food.
